Western Oil Paintings

When I was ten years old, my older cousin's drawing ability fascinated me and challenged me to create my own images. Over the years I practiced painting with oils, but didn't take art seriously until after moving to Arizona. I was referred to Artist Jim Strong and studied under him for several years before retirement brought me to the Payson area.
I have always enjoyed painting horses. I later included portraits as well as American Indian Culture, and now landscapes. 
My objective in landscapes is to create atmosphere and depth. I paint from photographs of Arizona scenery taken over the years while on trips or sight seeing. I then apply colors for realism. Most of my oil paintings are done with brush, occasionally with palette knife for texture.
